Deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and disposable razors are readily available in most of our homes. For our friends living on the street, these items are daily needs and major blessings that are much appreciated. We hand out 400 hygiene kits monthly. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and razors provide huge relief from infrequent opportunities to shower.  It offers some the chance to clean up for that much sought-after job interview.  We have had as many as 100+ homeless friends get up at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday’s to stand in a long line at our portable tables set up on the side of a downtown Ft Worth street just to receive a small bag of sample-size hygiene items.  Can you imagine?

Will you consider donating deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, or funds to help us put together these hygiene bags?  Or for around $7 at Dollar Tree or other discount stores, you and/or a small group of caring folks can experience the joy of making up your own bags.  You might consider including a note of encouragement or a small New Testament.

These hygiene kit ‘hand-outs’ have been the key for our HFOL team to start and maintain relationships with many homeless friends so far.  Our goal is to show that Jesus is alive in us, that He loves them, as do we, and He can change their lives, if they will invite Him in.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”  Rev. 3:20
